About the Role

The Manager Finance & Control is responsible for the financial strategy, financial health, and risk management of Balanz. This role ensures a solid financial foundation for growth, supports risk decisions in sustainable energy projects, optimizes financing structures, and ensures Balanz remains financially future-proof in a rapidly changing energy market.

This is a startup environment where a hands-on approach is essential. The Manager Finance & Control plays a crucial role in setting up, organizing, and professionalizing both internal and external financial processes, including reporting structures, project financials, banking relationships, and governance.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Management & Organization Building

  • Ensure transparent communication with management, shareholders, and external stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with banks, investors, auditors, partners, and external financial specialists
  • Set up collaborations with internal teams (project development, operations, sales) and establish clear financial frameworks

Risk Management & Governance

  • Develop risk management structures for corporate finance
  • Implement robust financial processes, controls, and systems
  • Oversee insurance, contractual obligations, and financial due diligence

Financial Strategy & Operations

  • Develop and execute Balanz's long-term financial strategy
  • Prepare financial plans, annual budgets, cash flow projections, and multi-year models
  • Identify financial opportunities and risks within the energy market, including subsidies, taxes, and regulations

Financing & Capital Structure

  • Optimize the company's capital structure
  • Structure and negotiate corporate financing (bank loans, investment funds, leasing, PPAs, etc.)
  • Maintain relationships with banks, investors, auditors, and other financial stakeholders
  • Maximize financing opportunities through relevant subsidies

Project & Asset Financials

  • Monitor financial performance of energy assets (e.g., solar roofs, battery projects, sustainability projects)
  • Evaluate financial business cases for new projects
  • Cost optimization and revenue analysis of operational assets

Reporting & Compliance

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations, including tax legislation and sustainability requirements
  • Manage audit processes and internal control systems

Operational & Strategic Collaboration

  • Strategic partner for management and shareholders
  • Provide input on corporate strategy, market positioning, and growth plans
  • Guide M&A activities, partnerships, joint ventures, and new business models

Required Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or equivalent
  • Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience, preferably in energy, infrastructure, real estate, or financial sector
  • Experience in senior financial roles (Finance Director, Manager Finance & Control)
  • Knowledge of IFRS/GAAP, tax legislation, and compliance
  • Experience with investment funds, project financing, or sustainable energy projects is a strong plus
